That is a super broad question.

There are special considerations given for copyright relief to Land Grant Colleges in the United States. That theory is the commercial purposes of copyright is not to be an impediment to education. There are additional considerations as to who holds the copyright of works created by students in their course work, most especially a thesis which may contain contributions of the committee. Student art and video projects regularly depend on 'fair use' to gain practice and experience with simulated productions. If a complaint of infringement is made, is it against the professor, students or college? Students that make 'fair use' of music in a video production, may suffer legal action if the same music is found to be downloaded on their computer. PBS claims fair use does not allow a teacher to include a videotape program as part of thier regular teaching plan.

You certainly have enough scope here to write a book on this topic. If you could break down a more specific instance for your question, it would get you more useful responses.
