The most obvious is that a community college will have credits that transfer, colleges like Devry or National American University won't tranfer.

Also, the courses offered are fewer at Devry and National American University.

Start with a community college. You'll be happier overall and be able to use the credits at a later time if you chose to go to a 4 year school.

DeVry is a trade or technical school. They will teach you how to do something. They also have a placement service which will help you find a job.
A community or junior college teaches general knowledge, information. It works kinda, like, maybe perhaps similar to an advanced high school. If you intend to go on to a full time university or college, some of the credit which you earn in jc may apply.

DeVry is a trade school where you learn a trade like auto mechanics, culinary arts, or cosmetology. A community/junior college is similar to a university, but there are fewer courses and they generally offer education up to an associates degree (you can't get a bachelors or masters).
