I lived in Maplewood Park Apartments in the Renton Highlands (better area) for about 6 months. Very cheap rent! I still live in Renton. My car has never been stolen or broken into, neither has my house. I've never been mugged or approached. Just don't live downtown Renton and you'll be fine. :)

It depends on what you are looking for. Renton does have many apartments available in that price range but you need to check out the neighborhoods. I personally would not live in Renton as I was staying with my daugher after I moved here and my car was stolen!
I would look a little north, maybe Bellevue or even Seattle. Good luck

Go to any grocery store and get a "For Rent" magazine. They are free and point out many apartments, their prices, and their perks.

Fairwood area has decent rent and it is fairly quiet.
