I haven't had one myself, but I'm an x-ray tech that assists with these procedures. Some of the patients are completely fine, and some scream (that's rare though). Cramping and spotting are normal afterward. You should take something for pain prior to the exam. Try to keep in mind that there is an increased risk of pregnancy afterwards!

(Also to Angel: the dye/contrast doesn't go through your ovaries, it goes through the uterus and fallopian tubes.)

I haven't heard of a HSG test. Is it where they run the die through your overies? If it is then I had that done a few months ago. After TTC for a long time and having a M/C. The results came back all clear with all the tests I had done. I also had a historoscopy and a laparoscopy done as well which gave me some pain but none of my pain was around my tummy. After the die runs through your overies if they are clear or if there is a little blockage the die cleans it all out which can make you more fertile that month. Good luck with it all. Don't be scared by it, it can be a good thing. Good Luck.

P.S If its not the die thing then sorry I can't help you and I have rambled on for nothing lol.

I have, afterward I had alot of cramping but it was no worse than period cramps. They couldn't see the left tube, meaning it was either damaged or blocked. I opted for IVf and it worked.

I had this test done and because of my tipped uterus, I had severe cramping. But I know of other people who had it done and they were fine - no problems at all. Try to stay calm and relaxed as much as you can.

Good Luck.
