I am 13 and quite active. I knwo that a 'period is unpredictable' but i wanna be prepared. I have a mucus like discharge and wanted to know if that has anything to do with a period. Is there any type of thing I can do to know when my period is coming (within 3 months or so)

Not that I recall. I got mine at 13. I was active but not "super-athlete"...I played HS sports and did competitive figure skating....the only reason I bring it up is because you said you are quite active and often those gals won't get their period until very late (like 16-18). It is very rare though. I'd say it will probably come very soon. And you won't know when. It was a complete surprise to me....look down when you are going to the bathroom and BAM...there it was.

haha i was just like you! whenever i went to the loo i was checking all the time! your mucus stuff is called discharge and it's the vagina cleaning its self. you usually have this for about a year before you actually get your period. i had it for about a year and a half so everyones different. once you stop 'looking' for your period it will come! mine came on the last day of year 9 when we were meant to be going to a water park, so i got to stay home and mum let me eat all these lollies and my dad brought me home some flowers! you feel like a princess!!! i got mine when i was 14, and i thought that is the average age. the reason girls are getting their periods younger and younger is because of obesity. The average weight to get your period is 45kg ( i read this somewhere ) and since girls are getting fatter younger they get their periods as young as 8 years old. you need to weigh a certain amount to be able to support a baby. dont worry yours will come soon! also if you are VERY active sometimes this puts off your period i dont no why and some active girls dont get it until they are 18. talk to your mum about it and keep some pads in your room and in your handbag and in your bag at school. Still everyones is different i mean mine was very light and only lasted about 2-3 days and my friends was very heavy and had went through her pyjamas when she was sleeping and hers lasted about 7 days.

Good Luck girl!

God is looking after you!!

I dont know why girls complain about their periods, because i was just so happy i got mine, its such a beautiful thing God has created!

The mucus could be from hormones, but to be honest there is no real way to know when you will start your cycles. To be prepared I would suggest you carry a pad in your backpack and your purse so you will have one on hand when it does happen. You dont want to be at school and ooops here it shows and not have anything with you. Enjoy this time with out it as you will have many years with it and it can be a pain.

I had a clearish/milky discharge for a while before my period. You may also get mood swings (upset easily, etc.) and cramps "down there." Some people''s breasts get really sensitive. Ask your mom/aunt/close female relative when she got her period. Yours will probably start around the same time as hers.

well the mucus like discharge is normal. almost every girl gets it when they are around the period age.(9-15) so this kinda has to do with your period but not really. hope this helps.

before my first period i started to sweat, grew more hair on my legs and started having hair growing under my arms. but i felt no cramps when i got it. luckly i still dont get my period by suprise. when i go to tinkle i get it then but i always know when its coming because my tummy will hurt a little or ill feel a little bloated and if i dont ill notice if i start getting moody or emotional. and eventually you start to get your period on certain dates. like i would always get them on the 1st.
