Politicians who have made "politician" a career instead of a civic duty, as our Founding Fathers originally intended.
They come from privileged families, go to prestigious schools, and spend most of their time among their own kind or in the company of sycophants who cater to their egos and perpetuate their ignorance of the reality of what most Americans' existence is really like. All too often this leads to them believing that it is their "sacred and profound" duty and responsibility to take care of us illiterate, ignorant, unwashed masses, because WE THE PEOPLE don't really know how to do it ourselves.
If they just happen to become more and more powerful and self-serving in the process, then so be it.

Too much power and too much money in one city. The lobbyists are only a sympton of the problem, becuase they're only following the money and trying to influence policy where all of the power is.
We the people have allowed too much power to gather in Washington. If we ever hope to save this country, we have to find a way to take it back.

It is by far excess spending and the creation of a Monster govt that helps nobody--e.g., Katrina. Republicans have increase discretionary spending by 40% the last 12 years.
