Other nations are catching up, but we are currently the only superpower in the world, there used to be Russia, there is always that chance, but most likely no, we are more technoligically advanced than most nations with enough men to take us down, and the places who are more advanced don't have enough men, we're kind of like a balance.

We are "a" superpower. For the moment we are "the" superpower. China has a far way to go, but it is moving there rapidly. The European Union is close behind. Russia has always been a military giant and an economic dwarf. But their huge oil and natural gas reserves may change a lot of that. We are too saddled with twin houses of cards: trillions in national debt, and billions every momth id trade deficit. The books have to balance some way or another. So US transnational corporations are being bought out by China, arab oil sheikdoms etc.

No way. Love it or hate it, the USA is the only super power on the face of the earth. It is more than just military might, which is more powerful than any other country on earth. It's also about economics and the money of the world flows through the USA.

Absolutely not!The other countries may obtain our ideas but not our technology or Experts, nor do they have the stockpiles of munition nor raw materials necessary to compete should we turn our energies to that of a true "war machine" the other countries do not want to incur our wrath by any power plays. As in the Cold War years they will find "detente" the mode to address tensions rather than global destruction.

No I don't believe it will lose it's status as a superpower. We have more money, better health care, a large military. I don't think we will lose that status anytime soon.

Read "The Sick Rose" by Robert Blake. It's a very short poem from around 1605, but it explains an awful lot.
