The Fox News Channel is the most trusted news source in America, according to a new poll released by the BBC and Reuters that surveyed 10,000 news consumers around the world.

Asked which news source they most trusted, 11 percent of Americans named Fox News - more than any other news source in the U.S.

Fox News led the broadcast networks by substantial margins, with ABC coming in at 4 percent, NBC - 4 percent and CBS - 3 percent.

In less crowded news markets, percentages were higher. 32 percent of Britons, for instance, named the the BBC, while 59 percent of Egyptians named Al Jazeera.

The most trusted news networks on a global basis were the BBC, and CNN, the Reuters/BBC poll found.

"National TV is still the most trusted news source by a wide margin, although the Internet is gaining ground among the young,

Of course it's true.
Liberals just hate admitting it because people will stop watching their Left-Wing garbage CNN, ABC, NBC spew out every day.

You're darn right that the young are turning to the internet.
We also like alJazeera. Why? Because the US doesn't want us to hear anything they have to say. Stupid decision. We can always find a way to get information from any and all sources.
I would offer that Fox5 News has a viewing audience of mostly 29 - 35 years old in the mornings, and the over 45 old crew when O'Reilly is broadcast. CNN and MSNBC run a close second.
I will credit Fox 5 with some of its broadcasting. At least it covers a broader news base than the others. It's not all Iraq and Iran. They talk about other news items also.
But then, I don't really care anymore.
I stopped watching them months ago.
I'm only speaking of the period of time within which I watched them occasionally.
But the young...
we really don't care much about tv anymore.
Don't care about ratings and s--t either.
We just want the news.

So what's the question? Is it or isn't it? If the BBC survey says it is, then I would tend to believe it. If I get any news at all through visual media (other than sports and weather), it's from the BBC. The American outlets are hopelessly slanted to the political views of their ownership. I never watch Fox. I couldn't tell you who is on it or what time the news is on. For all I know, they show news 24/7. I get almost all of my news from the newspaper. Even the newspapers are slanted these days, but some are still trying to provide objectivity. I remember in my journalism class in the 70's we were taught that the news should be reported objectively - you should not inject yourself into the story. Those days are over, but if you're lucky you might find a local paper or two that are less obvious in their bias. Fox News the most trusted? Sure - why not? Look who's President of the US.

that is BS really why would the BBC diversity chief want women to have a veil they don't have veils on all the reporters on Al Jazzera even. I trust Aljazzera a lot more than Faux noise myself in fact Murdoch's media empire is by the day for the last twenty years more like Le Père Duchesne a newpaper/pamphlet from French revolution look it up and you will see signs that Faux noise are just the 21st Century version of Hébert's paper.

Not really surprising. Fox has the right-wing news market pretty much cornered, and actually I would have expected more like 20% rather than just 11%. As for other US media outlets, clearly the demand for credible news sources is far more competitive and fragmented than is that for biased sources like Fox, and that's a good thing for democracy.

Uh, Uh, Trish...you forgot that NewsCorp owns BSkyB(British Sky Broadcasting), the UK's equivalent to Fox News Channel...BSkyB is to Tony Blair as FNC is to "Dubya" and the RepubliCreeps!

Just you wait til Barack wins the White House in '09, then Hannity AND Colmes, along w/ Bill O'Reilly will DEMAND a recount!...Rush and Dr.Laura will be laid off, and normalcy will return to the USA!...

Besides, what makes you think that ALL Egyptians watch Al-Jazeera?...they'd rather watch Katie Couric via satellite!...

That thumbs-down was NOT needed!...

How about Triumph the Insult Comic Dog for Vice-President?

I love the libtards that can't accept a poll conducted by the BBC, the world's most neutral news souce and Reuters, one of the world's most liberal.

They also can't distinguish between Fox's news programming and editorial content, that is due to their years of watching CNN, MSNBC, and broadcast news and only understanding the tiny bits of left wing propaganda fed in 30 second sound bites.

do you have a link... I remember seeing this before (or is this new, or older?)... and there was something I noticed in the study that was interesting... but you don't have it in the items you list...

frankly, I suspect that those that trust certain news sources most, are the most bias people...

just look at alJazeera's numbers... the more extreme, the more trusted...

on an odd side note though... more people watch the networks than Fox, yet Fox is more trusted? odd?

When it comes to the "war on terror" the only true resources unfortaneately are the one who are against it. Everyone else takes a tiny bit of info. and twists it/makes it WAY bigger than it should be.This would be an example- someone accidentally shoots off a gun in the ghetto while cleaning it and the news says that there was a drive-by shooting. Also someone in my family has been arrested and the news lied. So, I've lost my respect for reporters and cops. we do need reform. We need rock hard sources.

Its a very right wing biased news network, and I dare say it comes off as a bit "un-journalistic" a lot of times. I've seen more bias on Fox than any other news station, but thats just me. I prefer to read foreign news to find out about American policies. They aren't Dem or Rep, so they give the real view. BBC is good.

You cant really trust one source of news. You have to examine a lot to get a true picture. There is bias everywhere
