Look at the expectations set for them. Are the expectations too high, unobtainable? Look at their workload. Is it too much for one person, does their need to be additional staff added? How well does the group get along. It's easier to deal with stress if the people can talk to others in their situation. If they don't get along, it will add to the stress (tension) of the workplace and won't be optimal for them to bounce ideas off one another. Are they getting enough time off work? You don't want them getting burnt out due to long hours and weekends. Some OT is understandable, but excessive OT is not.

Some additional tips are to ensure the team delegates properly if they can so that if they don't need to do things personally, it can be passed down to another employee who is more suited for the task. Ensure that they have a forum where they can discuss and resolve issues that are stressing them out instead of letting it build up until they explode.

its hard to give a specific solution now, because i'm not sure what type of stress the staff have. but below i suggest steps for you to cope with the situation.

i think you can try the following steps to help your staff.

1) identify the root of stress. (why do they feel stress? not enough time for family? competition in office? cannot handle tasks well? not sure of personal development)

2) identify resources available. (check what is needed to reduce the stress of staff, like work-life balance programs, training etc.)

3) develop action plan and follow-up. (use methods to help staff and follow-up to see if there is any reduction of stress)

4) review action plan. (if staff still feel stress, you may not have identified the root problem or you may have use the wrong method to help them)

hope this helps.

Depending on your job type, offer a de-briefing every so often, or perhaps set up a company yoga class. Offer stress balls, and encourage a relaxed environment as much as possible.
