IT DEPENDS ON WHICH KIND OF IRIS YOU HAVE. ONE TYPE OF IRIS IS A WATER LILY AND CAN BE FOUND IN MANY LAKES AND RIVERS. I HAVE TONS OF THEM IN MY KOY POND. HOWEVER THE ONES I PLANTED IN SOIL DID NOT BLOOM AND EVENTUALLY DIED. THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES THOUGH. IF YOU HAVE BULBS THEY SHOULD BE IN SOIL, WATER PROPERLY AND FILTERED SUNLIGHT. AS WITH ANY PLANT IN THE HOME, THEY ALL NEED TO BE OUTSIDE AT SOME POINT OR THEY WILL DIE.

nope, an iris needs to be in the ground to bloom well, needs good sun and water. Only blooms for about a week

I would say no. I have never seen it used as a house plant as it requires so much sunlight to bloom and thrive. That is why they do so well in West Texas.
