I just installed a FMF exhaust on my 230. It now does not run well, sounds like it is running lean. I have to set the choke to 3/4 open for the bike to run without missing. It appears they changed the design of the Honda cabs as I cannot find the fuel/air screw. Any suggestions? Only knowledgeable replys please.

Have you done the "powerup kit" modification to your 230 yet? You definitely need to rejet. Here is what Honda recommends for the 230 with stock exhaust. You made need to change it slightly for the FMF exhaust. The guys at the shop should be able to help you or you can contact FMF and ask what jetting they recommend for that pipe. As part of the power up mod you also remove the plastic baffle from the top of the airbox. The shop should be very familiar with that procedure.

Available from any Honda Dealer.

Check with your local Honda dealer to see if you can get different size jets for the carb so you can get the bike running properly. Also, you may want to purchase a work shop manual for the bike if you don't have one already this may help you determine what to do.

The mixture screw is on the bottom of the carb, near the front and points up.
Don't touch it. It only adjusts the idle circuit and up to 1/8 throttle opening.
You should re-jet your carb because of the exhaust.
Contact me for a carb trouble shooting guide. It'll explain what needs to be changed to correct particular symptoms.
