Or are you just glad to get rid of that person?

It really depends on which side of the table you are on. If you want it your happy. If you don't your sad. I am happy about mine because I know I tried everything I possibly could to make my marriage work and marriages don't work unless both people are in it fully.

Divorce is a tragedy ... the end of a chapter in a life, and it's not unusual to feel you "wasted" the time invested in trying to make the relationship work (although it isn't really wasted, you used it becoming what you are). Divorced men feel reamed out financially too, having to get by on half or less of the money and possessions they once had, especially if they have a harsh settlement against them. There is the happiness of anticipating new life circumstances (sort of writing a new narrative in the story of your life), but there's a lot of sadness too, as you realize that your partner touched places in your life you never realized until it's over.

Divorce is a sad thing no matter what the reason, or who asked for it. You might feel like you're glad to be rid of that person---but once you truely love someone--part of you always will.

I don't believe that's the right question. At least not if you have children. I don't know about when you don't have children because I had three and my divorce hurt them so much I just can't get over being sorry for it. If you have children, the question is will divorce scar them for life or leave them unscarred. If you don't have children I can only guess you'll just be glad to get rid of the nuisance.

My marriage/divorce was like this:

Stress, stress, stress building.

Finally made decision to end it.

Told husband. Stress some more (his reaction).

Then when the break was finally made, HUGE relief.

The fact that a 7 year period of my life was over was a bit sad, but I'm happy I made the decision and have moved on.

I think it depends on the person...

Most people will find that they get sad - even if they are the one that wanted the divorce in the first place.

PEOPLE WHO GET DIVORCED ARE THOSE WERE JUST NOT READY TO BE MARRIED .EITHER U RUSHED IN OR YOU MADE A BAD CHOICE .OR YOU RUSHED IN JUST BECAUSE THE THOUGHT OF LOOSING HIM OR HER WAS HURTING YOU.IF YOU ARE HAPPY STAY HAPPY DONT GET MARRIED .MARRIAGE IS NOTING BUT A BALANCING ACT ,GETTING MORE ORGANISED,IMPROVING COMMUNICATION SKILLS ,AND THE MOST DIFFICULT PART SACRIFICES.PUTTING OTHERS BEFORE YOU.IF YOU CAN DO IT HAPPY MARRIAGE IF YOU CANT GET DIVORCED AND START LIVING HAPPILY.SIMPLE.MEN ARE A LOT HAPPIER BEFORE MARRIAGE.THEN THE KIDS COME THE RESPONSIILITIES.TAUNTS.NAGGING,THE PERFORMANCE OF BEING SUPER IN BED.DAMN LIFE TAKES A WORSE FOR MEN .WOMEN I DONT KNOW ABT THEMM ASK THAM WHAT THEY FEEL.HAVING A GIRLFRIEND IS A BETTER OPTION WHEN YOUNG MARRIAGE IS FOR OLD PEOPLE WHO ARE LOOKING FOR EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL SUPPORT NOT FOR STALLIONS LIKE US.

My ex and I didn't get divorced, the marriage was annulled. I was very depressed once it had happened. I wanted it to, but was still depressed. Divorce is such a negative word.

Have a great night.
