Center out in a clockwise rotation. Studs are the best fasteners and SPS bolts are a close second.
Tighten in 20 ft. lb. increments.

Start in the center of the head and work outward in a circle. do not tork one bolt all the way. tork to about half way untill you have done all the bolts, then start over and finish torking the bolts. Look at the tork specs, if it says 80 foot pounds plus 1/2 turn or anything like this, the bolts are streach bolts and will have to be replaced with new ones. Before you start run a tap in each bolt hole and a dye on each bolt. Colt the bolt threads with Permatex 2 sealer, the bolts go into the water jackets and the threads must be sealed. Make sure the head and block surface's or clean. Put a stright edge on the head and if you can get a feller gauge of 8 to 10 thousands under it in the middle the head is warped and will have to be milled. These are things you must do to save time, work and money.
