If you're gonna go Japanese, I'd compare it to the Yamaha line. I started out riding Yamahas. They were good, dependable bikes and they were cheaper than Hondas, both in purchase price and replacement parts. I've ridden bikes all my life (I'm 54 now) and I finally bought my dream bike last weekend, a 1200 Harley Davidson Sportster XL Custom. I always wanted a Harley but never could afford one until now. So my advice, in a nutshell, is to go for your dream. If it's the Honda, so be it! And if it's not, it might be a suitable substitute until you can move up to the American Legend, like I did. To each his own, you know?

VTX1300?- that would make you a wanna be poser.

If you want a Harley knock off, just get an HD. If you ride an HD knock off, everyone will make fun of you. If what you want is an HD, just get one. Don't be a poser.

If you want a Honda (not that there is anything wrong with a Honda) get a Valkerie, Gold Wing, ST1300 or CBR.
