Because usually when an alarm goes off, people freak out because something bad is usually happening, so they can't think or speak properly. Of course, that WAS the reasoning a long time ago. Now it's just natural human nature, I guess. Or course, it woudn't have spread if people didn't hear it on TV.
Short answer: People who freak out and TV.

I don't know either. I work at a security company where I frequently call people at home and tell them the alarm has been triggered at either their business or at the home of a relative, etc. and they frequently assume that once it is triggered, it will also disarm. I blame it on the fact that I work the night shift and mostly people aren't thinking clearly when I have to wake them up. :)

The alarm is set so its on. When the time is up it goes off.

lmao...i just don't know.
I guess because when someone gets angry...they "go off" on someone and when the alarm clock rings,it has such fury that it seems to be "going off" on you?

Because it goes off, it doesnt come on. It goes off by itself and when it comes on its turned by human power.
