I spent 3 months studying in my supposed favorite country (the title I gave it before I visited it) only to be disillusioned and disappointed and embittered by every aspect of the French culture (of France) and coming back to the US with no new knowledge gained save that of my undying love for America? Are the french just weird or is it just me?

And my complaint isn't even about their rudeness (which other Americans I met at the airport found to be unbearable)...it is about sanity and cleanliness, and their siestes, and their bad french-dubbed-american tv, and the weather and their standoffish personalities....

Actually your experience is a common thing among American travelers. Many journalists, reporters, etc. have expressed a much stronger love for America after having visited Europe.

So you're not into the culture... big friggin deal!

That doesnt allow you should make arrogant statements saying ALL French people are "weird".

Your opinion of France/French people being weird might just have to do with your growing up American. Have you not thought that maybe YOU are weird to the French?

All cultures in some aspect or another influence other cultures, and that is no different with American culture. YES, even FRANCE has left a LARGE imprint in our culture, sorry to burst your bubble.

And just so you know, there are plenty of other cultures out there besides American that are beatiful. There's good and bad in EVERY culture.

Keeping an open-mind you gain appreciation for other cultures. But even if you dont feel them, at least respect them.

Peace out

You were not open-minded enough to learn anything about their culture from your visit.
