DSL is broadband. Broadband is pretty much anything that is faster that horrible dial-up (LOL). There are a few common types of Broadband available for users like us for our home.

1. DSL- Slowest form of Broadband- up to 3meg download speed
2. Cable- Really fast- up to 5 meg download speed (also great for gaming).
3. Fiber Optic- Super fast- I think its up to 10meg download speed, Verizon offers it in most areas.

Hope i was of some help to u!!!

DSL: Direct Subscriber Line, uses existing phone lines. You dont need to dial-up. The cable is more reliable quality for voice and data.

Broadband: Uses cable lines. FIBER-OPTIC technology is used here. More reliable than DSL and regular phone lines. FASTER and SECURE.

Broadband Internet access, often shortened to just "broadband", is a high data rate connection to the internet— typically contrasted with dial-up access using a 56k modem. Dial-up modems are limited to a bitrate of less than 56 kbit/s (kilobits per second) and require the dedicated use of a telephone line — whereas broadband technologies supply more than double this rate and generally without disrupting telephone use.
