Don't you think also that Ahmadinejad has pulled a brilliant fast one, and that a majority of the Arab masses are rolling around laughing at Britain's expense.
The man may be an shia fundamentalist, some of his ideas
may be repulsive, some of his speeches disgusting.
But he is obviously not an uneducated hick, I get the feeling he knew exactly what he was doing from day 1,and got it right!.
-Opening of diplomatic channels
-Enormous free amounts of publicity to boost his and Irans image in the middle East.
-45 Minutes of worldwide free air time on his Press Conference chastising the Western World.

Making us look like complete idiots , and rubbing that in like there is no tomorrow.
Face it, the bloke is the Elected President of a Nation of 75
Million People (election rigged though ) ,is a civil engineer who actually lectured at University.
He is a cunning, nasty but worthy opponent,we'd be idiots to
underestimate him.(Or his People )

Whoever has come to the silly conclusion I support Ahmadinejad !!
And whoever comes to the conclusion That I think Iran would seek a confrontation with the US or Britain, they are to smart to pick a fight they can't win.
I also know that Khameini is the power behind the throne, and that Ahmedinejad was put forward to get rid of Rafsanjani.
I know the Irani people are surprisingly pro american, maybe because they're so well educated (10% on line).
They won't be pro America for long if you apply the Shoot first
and ask Questions later tactics, and bomb them to Kingdom come from the Nimitz yhough.
All I am trying to say is that Ahmadinejad
(as the front man) pulled a good publicity
stunt, and increased his popularity in the M.East. That certainly does not mean I support or cheer the man.
Since I am Dutch and several time zones
and 50 TV channels away from mainstream America (just BBC/CNN)
Who is this Rosie Mc Something I'm supposed to have listened to?.

Round one to America. While Ahmedinejad was messing with Britain, his governing council discovered the Nimitz Carrier group was steaming to the Persian Gulf, and Iran still has no nuclear capability or anything to wage war. Nimitz is the THIRD U.S. CARRIER GROUP that will be operating off the coast of Iran and potentially threatening her trade with the use of military firepower and force.

The moderates siezed power in this situation and got Al-Khameini and Ahmedinejad to back off.

Force is the only thing these terrorist nations respect.

Do you know why he released his hostages:

Here's a news source

>>"But as Britain refused to apologize for the behavior of its boarding party, continuing to insist that they were operating in Iraqi waters – not inside Iran's territorial waters, as Tehran alleged – some of Khamenei's advisers began to have second thoughts.

Adding to those doubts were reports that the USS Nimitz was steaming toward the Persian Gulf – making it the third Carrier Strike Group in the area.

The Nimitz is expected to join the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and the USS John C. Stennis, both currently in the Persian Gulf, in the coming weeks.

On Friday, March 30, Khamenei's top advisers met in an emergency session of the Supreme Council on National Security, chaired by Ali Larijani. Larijani is the regime's top nuclear negotiator, and is a confidant of the Supreme Leader, while maintaining close ties to President Ahmadinejad.

At that meeting, Revolutionary Guards commander Maj. Gen. Rahim Safavi reported that the deployment of the Nimitz suggested that a U.S. military invasion of Iran was being prepared for early May. He urged the Council to order the release of the British hostages as a gesture to defuse the tension in the region.

The next day, however, the head of the Political and Cultural bureau of the Revolutionary Guards, Dr. Yadollah Javani, called Safavi a "traitor" for proposing the release of the hostages.

While this internal dispute raged, Revolutionary Guards intelligence officers in charge of guarding the hostages continued intense debriefings, aimed at eliciting "confessions" from the British captives that were aired on Iranian television.

The intention was to build a legal "case" against the captives and haul them before a Revolutionary court. During the trial, the regime intended to use forced "confessions" from some of the hostages who alleged they had personal knowledge of British government support for Iranian separatist groups operating in Arab-dominated Khuzestan along the Iraqi border and in Sistan-Balouchestan province, next to Pakistan.

The first inkling that the faction urging release of the hostages was winning appeared on Tuesday evening, when the influential Baztab Web site, run by former Revolutionary Guards commander Gen. Mohsen Rezai, reported that the British captives would soon be released.

"It can now be said that the politicians who are for continuing relations with London have got the upper hand," Baztab reported. Fars News Agency also reported on Tuesday that a prominent cleric, Hojatt-ol eslam Ghorbanali Najafabadi, was urging the public prosecutor not to pursue a legal case against the British sailors, but to solve the hostage crisis "through international diplomatic channels."

For now, Tehran's leaders have backed down. Why? My bets are on the Nimitz.

Unless Iran already has nuclear warheads, a direct military confrontation with the United States would most likely provoke a popular uprising against the regime. And retaining power is the one thing that Ayatollah Khamenei and his clerical cohorts actually care about."<<

So you keep cheering for the Iranians to win, the rest of us will see the truth.

One thing Ahmadinejad understands that few other middle eastern tin-horn leaders do, is how to manipulate the world's media. Just like his "open letter to the people of America." I would be very disappointed in Prime Minister Blair if some type of closed door deal was struck.

England got played big time, if we see them easing up on Iran
about their nukes you know the deal that was made, they may have gotten their 16 people back but I think it's going to cost them 100,000 times that in the long run. Many over there can't see any farther than the end of their nose and they think they're being smart, or at least not like the stupid Americans, I thing it is going to come back to haunt them in a very big way.

No you gained't get it contaminated. There legally ought to be a particular quantity of chlorine in the pool (as the different consumer suggested) and chlorine kills germs. merely take a bath when you get out of the pool and use a lot of warm temperature water and cleansing soap. also you are able to prefer to swim with a t-blouse on if the pool is outdoors so that you gained't get yet another sunburn. placed a lot of water-resistant sunblock on.

I think he did the exact opposite to what you mention here. He showed the world he is a mere puppet of the iatola. The ppl in iran are not laughing at the UK, they are glad nothing more came as a result of their leader's grandstanding. FYI; the ppl of iran don't care much for him either!

Stealgrave has a bit more detail.
