I would go for the the HPdv6338se (#3), it's a very good buy, and has a faster processor than #4, as well as being discounted $150.00. It should be more than adequate for everything you've listed. I think you'll have a very hard time finding the specs and features on this computer anywhere else for that price. If you ask 10 people what computer to buy, you'll probably get 10 different answers, I have a Sony Vaio laptop, an HP laptop and a Dell desktop and I'm happy with all of them, especially with HP's support and service. I bought my HP in the US and now live in Thailand, and because of a problem caused by my ISP here, I needed to bring my HP in for service, they have a beautiful facility here in Bangkok, and had my computer repaired in 3 hours, half way around the world and great service, because of this and the fact that I'm very happy with the computer, I definitely can recommend HP. Plus, I think your #3 is a great buy, good luck. PS: AMD processors are excellent processors and in some respects outperform their Intel counterparts, and at a lower cost.

I think that number 4 is a pretty good computer. I wouldn't get a Gateway computer because they don't make high quality computers. I would recommend a Toshiba notebook. They have models like the Satellite, Tecra, and Qosimo, with monitor sizes from 12.1"-17". I have a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092 with 1GB of memory, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 SP2, Intel Centrino, and wireless internet capabilities. I am very pleased with the quality of Toshiba notebooks, and you will be pleased as well if you get one.

Neither one listed above. Of the 4 listed, 3 laptops use the AMD cpu which you don't want to get and the other one use an older Pentium CPU. I would suggest you look for the Toshiba line of notebook here http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/cfam.to?coid=-26377 >>>Starting at around $870 you have the Intel Core 2 Duo and you also can customize to fit your budget. Toshiba laptop is very reliable and very nice looking too.

Gee, I think you need to buy the most expensive one there with all the accessories possible. But wait a couple of days while I buy some stock in BestBuy.
Otherwise go look at some reviews and see what they say about the features that interest you - learn then buy.

I would pick the Dell Inspiron 1501. It is pretty inexpensive, great quality, and it has a good sized screen. For your needs, I would choose 60-80GB hard drive, and 512MB-1GB RAM. This is the perfect laptop for your needs. To look at it, just go to http://www.dell.com and choose notebooks, then click home $ home office, or something like that.
