Katydids are harmless and very environmentally friendly - relocate him - gently, he will not bite.

1. Get a deep Ziploc container - the rigid kind

2. Quickly place it over the bug on the wall with your hand pressing the box against the wall

3. Move the box up or down (gently) to startle the bug and wait for him or her to crawl to the bottom of the container where your hand is.

4. Quickly remove the container and cap the lid on it.

5. Place it in the fridge for 5 minutes (not the freezer). Bug will be temporarily immobilized. Not necessary for crawling bugs.

6. Take container outside, remove lid and leave it there till bug goes away.

7. Take container back in and wash it.

The satisfaction of squishing the bug would be great.
But,the satisfacion of putting the bug outside would be greater. You would be saving an innocent creature. So good luck.

Depends on the bug and if he is bugging me personally. If he scares me he is toast out of reflexes alone. If he is cute he gets moved to the outside. Even if it IS snowing.

Relocate! People laugh at me, but I'm always relocating spiders, bugs and even wasps. I just can't bear to kill anything.

Gooberschnoob--you're great!

If i were you i'd be to grossed out to do either, but you can just squash him if you want, its just a bug.
But just think, if you let him go he could reproduce and then more of those things could get in your house. We don't want more of those things, there's millions of insects in the world already.
