It's for the countrys where the kids start working at 5 (kidding).
No, the companys have to cover their butts or they could get in trouble - hey, I live in a rural area and especially come summer the entire family works on the farms around me. That also is sometimes youngsters who are too young to drive a car driving a huge tractor.
Just remember to coffee lawsuit against McDonalds.

They put warnings on everything now-a-days, because of sue happy people. This is the reason that they also put directions on everything also. But to seriously answer your question, I think it is because sometime adults use children's medicine, and this warning is to prevent a lawsuit from anyone using or dispensing this medication.
