~Wow, two whole pages. What a slave driver your teacher must be. And I'll bet you only have a couple days to do it. I don't blame you for jumping to YahooAnswers rather to a book or a website. The assignment is outrageous and unreasonable. School is supposed to be about dating and partying and being a jock or a cheerleader or in the computer club and disin' the nerds and neat stuff like that and along comes this schmuck who actually wants you to learn something. Geez, what next. They're probably gonna make you meet some kind of standards to graduate or some crap like that. The folks in the 60's were right. You should boycott the class and lock down the school and make them treat you right. Man, I'm so worked up now over this whole thing I've gotta go do some blow. If I get down in time, maybe I'll be back and help you out. Assuming I can remember what it was that got me so worked up in the first place. Sometimes I forget stuff, especially when I wake up on the Ward.

It depends on which drug is taken-prescription are usually metabolized by the liver or kidneys and too much of it can cause those organs to fail. Once they are metabolized they can either block a response to the body or stimulate a response. Example: Morphine is an opiod angelsic medication. It supresses the nerve stimuli in the Central Nervous System and therefore blocks the pain response.
Another is Levadopa used for Parkinsons Disease-once its meatbolized/digested it converts to dopamine in the CNS where it serves as a nerve transmitter reducing the effects of the disease.

Illegal drugs like Cocaine can cause an increase in the body. It can cause your heart to race or beat irregularly, your pupils to dialte and can make you act out like you normally owuld not do
Make sense?

First of all, the term "drug" refers to just about any substance that you put into your body, other than food or drink. You can think of some examples of drugs. They can be anything like caffeine, nicotine, alcohol etc. that are legal, but still considered dangerous. Or drugs can be very addictive and dangerous such as cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines, etc. Or drugs can help you like aspirin, tylenol, ibuprofen.
You can start from this and maybe be more specific, for example you can categorize certain drugs as stimulants (caffeine) and depressants (alcohol). Or you can specifically explain how a certain drug affects your body (i.e. Caffeine- addictive, stimulant, raises blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, respiration rate, metabolic rate, etc.) You should be able to fill two pages, piece of cake!

We have hormones and neurotransmitters that send messages and cause different reactions in the body. Drugs either mimic, block or enhance the effects of the hormones and neurotransmitters. So the effect will depend on what is being blocked, mimicked or enhanced.
