With Bush's signing statements, it now has less power than it had. See, 'checks and balances' are supposed to keep all branches of government from having too much power. Congress had the power to pass legislation, then the President could veto (in which Congress would then has to re-pass the legislation with a 2/3 majority vote), or approve it. Now, he just writes in a signing statement onto the piece of legislation, which essentially states his interpretation of the law, not Congress'. Therefore, I think Congress now has too little power. I also hope the current Congress doesn't let him get away with it... I don't even know why the Republicans did...

They have become powerful because they are sick and tired of this Administration getting a blank check for all this money and it comes up missing. Bush wants more money for Iraq how about getting more money for New Orleans and Mississippi getting these bodies that are still floating around to their families. It is so hard to look at the United Sates having a big beautiful city like new Orleans still not even trying to be fixed. Worry about Americans and let Iraq , worry about Iraq, I never thought I would live to see the day that United States City would be in such a terrible state , it is just unbelievable ,this is America not a country that has this city with so many people misplaced and a city as big as New Orleans still in shambles and not being fixed,, WE need to take care of our on country first the hell with Iraq. Americans come first before any other country regardless of who made them that way a complete moron with nothing but dead insects in hs brain.

Congress has the right amount of power to do what they need to do. This BS that they are pulling is just to side step the public from the amnesty crap they are trying to shove down our throats. Everyone whines about the presidents approval numbers but the congress numbers are much lower yet. They are not getting it apparently.

Congress is playing mind games on their fellow Americans...... They are long on talk and doing very little or nothing for the American people and the Country..... Promises made and promises kept is not in their vocabulary..... They talk the talk but don"t walk the walk..... The Administration and Congress has been out to lunch for (10*) Ten years.....

The right amount. They need to stand strong.
One of the jobs of congress is to have a say over the way tax payer money is to be spent.
G. W. Bush thinks he is king of America.
Everyone knows you never give a blank check to anyone.
That's what Bush wants. His words,"No string attached".

Congress has power, but is afraid to use it. Republicans do not want to stand up against their own party, and Democrats are afraid to take responsibility.
