The cheaper ones are getting better and better - try Johnsons holiday skin. Also 'Sex Symbol' make aerotan which is instant and removable but once on skin and dry does not rub off. Comes off in a good shower. Its a real find

I tend not to use the cheap stuff but it doesnt always need to be the most expensive either. I find that everything is different and can be trial and error my friends love st tropez but i find that after a few days it starts to look blotchy on my skin. I quite like the estee lauder fake tan range. Fake can also be good and quite natural. My advice is see what your friends are saying but go with what you think yourself as everyones skin is different. But dont go for the cheap stuff a lot of it wil turn you a more unnatural colour. I've tried most of them and i have looked like an orange. the slightly more expensive stuff can look like its going to be a really dark green or brown but that is the stuff that makes you NOT go orange so dont be scared. Once you have a shower the dark colour washes off and your left with a sexy tan

well my mates always go for the saint tropez spray tan at a salon n they always look good. but I have heard that they can streak so I think you need to narrow it down to the best five and go for trial and error. BUT REALLY DONT USE JOHNSTONS HOLIDAY SKIN! After applying Johnstons holiday skin,I had a lovely tan for about three days, then I went on a city break and was devastated when I cudnt wear my strappy tops because I had patches. They were really bad because my tan had been so good. ironic. The patches just got bigger and bigger all over my tummy, chest and back. To be avoided!

I use Clarins Self-Tanning Instant Gel (despite the name its not instant, I don't know why it is called that) - £16 but a couple of quid cheaper in larger Superdrugs.

Easy to apply, smells nice, nice colour.... although I have been known to use Wilkinsons Self-Tanning Wipes (£1.49 - often Buy One Get One Free) as a top up... not recommended for a base tan, but very good applied over the top on the morning of a night out!

Nuetrogena carries a self spray tan.(not sure what it is called) Dove summer glow lotion works great. Sally Hansen also has a great spray on tan.

my friend uses jergens natural glow for the face, & banana boat dial-a-tan & l`oreal sublime glow...i think those are reasonably priced & she`s super-dark,,,but she does use all three daily, so i`m sure it doesn`t last long...she probably spends about (i`m guessing cuz i`m not sure of the actual prices) $30 per week on it...

Bain de Solel works great, doesn't have that sparkly stuff in it, doesn't smell, doesn't turn orange.
