The length of time to report a pap smear depends on where the smear has been sent for analysis. If it is sent to a major teaching hospital laboratory, turnaround times can vary substantially and can be up to several weeks. This is because hospital laboratories are usually very much understaffed and also need to focus on non-gynaecological analyses for hospital inpatients.
If the smear is sent to a private laboratory, where mostly gynaecological analyses are carried out, results can be turned around in a few days.
Telephone results are at the discretion of your doctor.

My dr has a special phone number where I can get lab results, these are the ones that are normal. If they find something abnormal such as an infection they will call me to tell me what the finding was and tell me how the dr wants to handle it.
I've had my pap result come back in a week before.

If you had a leep procedure done to remove the abnormal cells then I would feel confident that you have a normal pap test. It soley matters if the labs had to be sent out or if they are done in house, and how busy they are. The time factor to get results does not determine the outcome of your results. Good Luck If you already had one normal pap you should be in the clear.

It takes about a week or two. Some OBGYN's will make a telephone call or send a note by mail. Likewise, if the pap is unusual, they will contact you in the same manner. There were times I didn't feel it was soon enought!

My gynecologist always calls like a week after the pap test to tell me if everything is alright or not.

My ob/gyn goes by a "no news is good news" policy. He/the office only calls if something is abnormal. So if you've been waiting for a while, this could be the case. If you have further questions, just call the office. I'm sure they get these calls all the time. Hope this helps!

I actually had a pap smear yesterday. My OB/GYN gave me a number to call, she said if I'm anxious to get my results they will be ready in 2-3 weeks and I can call then.
