To help keep young folks from getting all pregnant?

It is part of human sexuality and should be discussed. The phrase "teach masturbation" as former U.S. Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders found out brings out the wackos with agendas that think the teachers are going to start teaching kids explicit techniques for masturbating. Those people tend to fear or play on the fears that sex education will be a crash course in unabashed pornography leading to orgies rather than a clinical overview of human biology leading to increased awareness of how the body works and the risks of STD's and pregnancy.

Due to the cultural and religious sensitivities of this intimate topic schools should probably require parental consent to teach these classes BUT if the parent refuses to let their child attend as a condition of graduation the student should still have to pass a test covering reproduction, STD transmission, unwanted pregnancy, etc. thus proving that the parent has done their job and taught them about the topic themselves.

Heck no. A lot of teenagers who engage in sexual activities in our society don't really care about risks. They just want what feels good so I'm sure they'd still prefer the real thing.

No, I think there are more effective ways to not get pregnant. If they teach that, it'll only make kids want to do more, hence leading to an increase in pregnancy rates.

lol i think its a pretty good idea.. they could teach them healthy and safe ways to masturbate without injuring them selves... I mean they already teach them how to have sex in highschool, might as well teach them the alternatives to sex... Had I known how to masturbate properly when I was younger I probabely wouldn't have butchered so many watermelons ;)

Maybe schools should encourage masturbation, but they don't need to teach it. Kids can figure that out on their own.

They know how to masturbate and you know it. They get all pregnant cause they get tired of masturbating and move to the next level. Usually with some guy that's saying something like"If you love me you will do it with me."

I don't think it's necessary. Most kids know how before they even get into school.
