This happens to me sometimes as well, you should try emptying your recycle bin, because many files are simply stored in there when you delete them. The files in the recycle bin take up space as well, so you should double click on your recycle bin, and then select "delete all files" (in recycle bin). I recently discovered this, because I was having the same problem (it might also help if you get an external disk drive to store some material such as photos and videos that take up a lot of space on your computer.) Good luck, and I hope this helps!!! : )

It sounds like a you have a virus that changes your your hard drive. This is just one of the many symptoms that signal that you may have a virus. To get rid of, go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ where you can scan for the virus. Once you have gotten rid of the viruses. Download the famous firewall program, Zone alarm, preventing any programs from programs that you don't want accessing the Internet in the first place. The two other programs is called AVG and Ad-ware Personal SE. They are free to use so you won't have to pay one cent for their protection. I listed the links down below so that you can download them. Hope this helps you out! If you still have trouble though, I strongly suggest that you call up Dell to see if this is a common problem. If your computer is less than one year's old, it should be under warranty.

You could have to buy a new hard drive and change this one.

Gimme a sec, though.

Before you do that, please try to download and install DiscCheck a utility that checks and repairs bad sectors on your dic and defrags it. You'll get it free at http://www.e-systems.ro/diskcheck.htm

Let's hope that this reolves the issue for you.

All the best.

Cheers!
