Secrets can protect or harm, and they're almost always revealed, at least to someone. They are tasty morsels we just need to share lest they go unappreciated. Being able to keep a secret indicates you can be trusted. It gives you an air of wisdom, even mystery. A truly wise person knows "when" to keep a secret.

the importance of a secret is to preserve it like that. I KNOW that sometimes we might find it difficult to do, but when you stop and think about it, the person told us because they trust and when someone trusted us we must not break that.

It depends on what context the word is used in. Philosophically the word could mean something that is uncommon, unusual, extraordinary, beyond common understanding and thus exceedingly difficult to communicate. In such a case it is a secret not because someone wants to hide it, but because only those who have experienced it would understand it.

It's only as important as the person who told you his or her secret to begin with.
In other words, if you respect, cherish or even love the person who told you a secret, you are more likely to keep it to yourself, am I right?
On the other hand, if you don't care or disrespect the person in question, you are probably going to open your mouth and start spreading gossip as soon as the opportunity presents itself I bet!
Hope this answers your question!
Take it easy!

To keep it only to yourself. You never want to tell someone you don't trust nor feel comfortable with knowing your inner most secret.
