Mostly because most women are VERY vain. Actually I find that most people are very vain. A lot of women think that if they are pretty, sexy, etc that will improve their lives when most of the time it just makes their lives much harder then needed. Now I am one of the weird ones... I don't get along with most girls because they are vain and self centered and because I am not I don't fit in with them. (which is fine, I prefer it that way) But this can also cause me more problems as well because most of the vain people out there think I should care about what "they" think and in their opinion I will never "fit". This is because I refuse to spend money on designer cloths or the latest cell phone and I don't give a darn about fashion or whats hip. I am who I am and if you don't like it you can leave me the hell alone and if you like me it a bonus for you and me.

Analogously, when assume that women pay more attention to their appearance than their minds. It is certainly not the case; nor have we proven that
"most" women do pay more attention to their appearance.

to be seen as perfect
second several type of men think they want younger women, so they try to look young as long as they can
if women would not pay any attention to how they look they would be considered sloppy, unattractive and if you noticed that idiots of tabloids paparazzi harass all celebrities with even the slightest details of make-up or design and normal people started to consider this normal

Because society traditionally has emphasized looks in women and minds in men. It's slowly getting better though.

Probably because we are too concerned with what people can see more than who we are.It's also a big part of being & feeling feminine.Is this bad?How have U been? ;)

It's the culture we live in. Just look at how many cosmetic, hair color and diet ads there are everywhere. It's sad but true..
