It has become increasingly discusting around the garbage bin. Tenants are letting small children take the garbage out and leave it on the ground near the bin. The garbagcompany will not pick up anything from the ground. Is the landlord responsable for picking this mess up?

Yes- the property management should be able to handle this (especially if it's an apartment complex or that sort of situation).

Yes! it is not now nor will it be in the future the tenants responsibility to pick up garbage that other tenants children leave lying around the base of the dumpster....call your landlord and express your disgust with the littered garbage around the dumpster and i assure you they will have it cleaned up or the city will file an ordinance against the property manager

In the state of Texas, the "City" is responsible for anything that falls outside of the garbage can within a 5 foot radius. The landlord should take responsibility enough to send a letter to all residents to make sure their trash makes it into the can but if in doubt you call call the City and ask due to
sanitation hazards he could be held liable for not making the other tenants comply.

i would complain to your landlord and explain that children are taking the garbage out and it is making a mess. if he is a good landlord he will post a flyer or contact the tenants and let them know there is a problem. hopefully he will clean it up.

children should be taught to make sure the garbage goes into the bin. Maybe an adult should take it out..Why not have everyone that uses the dump, gather together and pick it up....You do pay seperate to have it picked up ?

Lodge a complaint with the management co. You may also speak to the other tenants and discuss the matter with them. The offending tenants may be willing to correct matters, or they may be real jerks about it, but who knows, take a shot.

I agree with Dorton. What about your OWN self pride? If you were a homeowner, and the same thing was happening, wouldn' t you pick it up? Yes, you are paying rent, but how much is self pride worth?
