So I am making a timeline of the Civil War. My teacher gave us 30 items we need to put on the time line. I need the year it happend, if it was a cause, conflict or a compromise, and a describtion of what happend.
I need to know about these events:
The Liberian Effort
Sectionalist issues
States Rights issues
Lincolns nomination for president
Inportation of Slaves from Africa
Texas Independence
Texas Statehood

I already checked my book and I checked the index and glossary. I can not find the information I need on these. Please help!

Thanks sooo much. If you only know one of them dont hesitate to answer. Anything would be a great help!

The Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Project was launched by Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights on June 22, 2006. The project is designed to give Liberian refugees in the U.S. a role in promoting international justice and human rights as part of the truth and reconciliation process in Liberia. The project will also raise awareness of transitional justice mechanisms and the Liberian process here in the United States. Minnesota Advocates is working directly with Liberia’s recently inaugurated Truth and Reconciliation Commission to develop this project.

The War For Texas Independence

The Texas National Guard first reared its head in the form of the volunteer companies and bands of fighting men from its own soil and other parts of the United States that united under the banner of just and honest government against the tyrannical and dominating forces of the Mexican Government, of which Texas was then a part.

***Importation of Slaves from Africa***

In the spring of 1832 he fought in the Black Hawk War. Activity in the slave trade led Smith to Texas, where he was identified with Stephen F. Austin'sqv colony late in 1832 and became a resident citizen in 1833. He acquired land on Oyster Creek and the upper Brazos River and in the winter of 1833-34 made a trip to Cuba to procure African slaves to work those lands. Importation of slaves from Africa was contrary to Mexican law; so his vessel was seized and half of his cargo confiscated. The remaining slaves later worked on fortifications during the Texas Revolution.qv

The Liberian Effort has to do with West Africans who were migrant laborers from eastern Liberia called Krumen during the 19th century and early 20th century. They did "dirty" work but weren't slaves.

As far as Texas Statehood and independence you might want to check out this site:

You should try on line websites/encyclopedias such as Wikipedia. If you have access to a library, check there. I have read about a few of these. They're not impossible to find.
