I'm trying to install a Linksys Wireless G Notebook Adapter to my laptop computer. I need IE 5.5 to run the software, but I only have 5.0. How do I install IE 5.5 without internet connection?

Wow my friend, you are in some SERIOUS need for updates as 5.5 is a MASSIVE security risk. Do one or two things:

1/ Go to windows update and install ALL critical fixes (This will bring you up to IE7, and should be done regardless or not if you do #2.

2/ Download and install Firefox. This will take care of your linksys issue.

By the way, you dont really need a browser to install the G adapter, you just need the driver - which is also available on windows update. It should auto-install itself once you plug it in. The software is the Linksys add-on that takes over from the wireless service in windows. You REALLY dont want that.

By the way, what version of windows are you running?>?>?>

Download the software on another computer (Save, not Run option). Copy the file to a floppy or CD depending on what your machine has. Click on it to install.
Think about getting up to date on your IE, you are several versions and security updates out of date.

IE is an integral part of windows and cannot be downloaded separately. An internet connect is required to open it.

jeez you still have 5.5? i think they up to like 7.0 or something now if i'm wrong then srry. and way umm i think you can go to like a computer store and buy the latest version of internet explorer. if not then you will have to find a computer that has internet and dowload the latest version. which if u think about it is really stupud cuz if you needed the internet to get it then you are stuck.

The disc that came with the card, will install the adapter. You can save the file on another computer, then put that on a flash drive, and you can install it from there.
Just remember save it, put it on flash drive, the install on the computer you need it on.

If you have a friend with a hardline internet connection, go there, download IE, burn it to a cd, then put it on your laptop from the cd.
