Of course I go to a good school and work hard, but is it worth it to sacrifice happiness and a social life in order to get straight A's instead of half A's half B's?

How have your academic decisions as a high schooler and as a college student affected your future?

BTW, I want to be in the film industry when I grow up

it kinda depends, actually.

for example, my business teacher was a high school dropout, but he pulled through and got his G.E.D., and teaching lisense, and now he's close to getting his principal's lisense.

basically, i think that you SHOULD try hard and get good grades, it'll make everything college-related easier... but don't stress yourslef out about it.

also, colleges are looking less at overall grades now, and more at the types of activities you do... for example, i know this one girl who got straight As her ENTIRE high school career... but she didn't have ANY extra curriculars... well, she probably had a few, but not enough to amount to anything... anyway, like every college rejected her.

so the bottom line is, good grades make everything in life easier, but DON'T stress about it.

OH, yes, it was DEFINITELY WORTH IT for me to do my best not only in SCHOOL (High School, UGrad and Grad Degrees), but also my careers so that now ... as an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree ... I can RELAX in MY HOME that MY Hard Work has EARNED for me and be able to ENJOY Life a bit and be INDEPENDENT!

There is nothing that I would change .. and as far as my peers (who did party it up during HS) ... they are NO WHERE NEAR where I am at today .. and are unable to be PROUD that they have MADE it in life. Some died (drugs), some killed themselves or others (Alcoholism or Under the Influence driving), some committed crimes, and some are hangers-on that expect everyone else to provide for them.

I AM very PROUD of the fact that I DID it on MY OWN and EARNED everything that I have .. Survived a short disaster of a marriage (walked away from EVERY THING I owned at the time to LEAVE with the LIVES of myself and my children), and yes, am rebuilding MY HOME after the damage this ex did when he once again (and this is almost a decade and half AFTER the divorce was finalized) BURGLARIZED my home (August 2006).

Your grades do matter though not enough to stress yourself out. Getting straight A's versus A's and B's will not decide your success or even which college you get into. Right now, as a college student, I am surrounded by some who had straight A's in high school, some that only had C's until junior year, and some, like me, who had mostly A's and some B's. In the long run, colleges will look at the overall picture so B's will not be that upsetting.

high school grades really matter. the grades you get in high school are the deciding factors of you life. the grades you get in high school will be the grades that matter the most, for getting into a good college, and then from a college to a job.

Yeah they do. If you want to go to an Ivy league school, you have to have straight A's. State schools you can get away with mostly As and some Bs, but you have to have extracirriculars to make up for those Bs. I hope you are going to a California school for your film degree. Remember Stanford isn't Ivy League, but has admission requirements as if it were. I hear USC and UCLA have great film programs. Good luck!

it all depends on you honestly. i like being able to say that I graudated with honors from high school and college. you can get good grades and still have a life. you just gotta know how to manage your time. but i think you should def continue on the road your on as far as making A's and B's. It will make you feel good later on down the road. but also participate in extracurricular activities, those look good on resume along with transcripts.

DUH! If you ever want to go to college, you want to have the best grades you can get. All A's is good, but a bit difficult. I don't see aproblem of getting some B's and some A's. Now your grades in elementary school didn't really matter as much, they still are important, but not as important as your H.S. grades. the grades you get in High School will affect the rest of your life

it does matter. just because you do good in school it doesnt mean that you dont have fun during your high school years. im only in 8th grade and my grades are ok good but i still have plenty of fun with my friends. and i know its different in high school but you have to do well in school to succeed in life. i know theres some people who drooped out of high school or whatever and turned out to be very successful but theres not a really big chance of that happening. i personally think its worth working hard in school so you can have a good future :)

i think of in case you bypass to an area college and circulate to a reliable 4 twelve months college, what's going to quite advise some thing is your college degree. in case you get right into a reliable college, you could no longer have a project getting a reliable job, and those human beings finding for a job is truthfully no longer finding at your hs profession. and in the event that they did, who is conscious in the event that they could look at you with severe regards considering the fact which you picked your self up. i be attentive to this from my brother, who replaced into almost failing out of highschool. He, with my mom talking to the concept, complete his hs profession on a bad word. He went to an area college, transferred to a 4 twelve months college, and only complete his bachelors and is proper now going for interviews. he's gotten employed for some, yet he needs to decide for because of fact he has a call. i be attentive to this from seeing my brother experience this, and because he did no longer accomplish that great in severe college, perhaps it is not so important
