Helmets for pedestrians. Seriously, one of the main traffic issues today is that cars are getting more and more safe for the people *inside*, but mortality among pedestrians is rising, because many car manufacturers think their customers won't pay for pedestrian-safe cars, like cars with soft hoods and pedestrian-safe bumpers. It looks that some of those wildly popular SUVs (aka Urban Assault Vehicles) were specially designed to kill and maim pedestrians as efficient as possible.Especially lethal for children.

The former -- though negligibly. There is still a high mortality rate for people involved in motorcycle accidents even with helmets.

Most people who die in car accidents (assuming they are wearing seat belts) die from gross trauma, not TBI (traumatic brain injury) so helmet laws for car or truck occupants would not help much.

What would be the point of wearing a helmet in a car? You don't risk falling off and hitting the ground with your head every time you ride in a car but you do on a motorcycle. This is a really dumb question.
