You're being a very very bad boy and you know you are; but in the **spirit of the question alone** ---- if a person was gay and wanted to become straight then he or she should work to become so. Now let me work on the flip side of that you naughty thing: if there was a straight boy or girl that was unhapy with their sexualtiy and wanted to become gay, they should work to become so as well. Blessings.

Personally, I think that people should remain true to whomever they think they are and not what society thinks they should be. I'm very happy being an almost 45 year old Lesbian Otter housewife.

I don't think it's strange for a lot of gay people to wish they could be straight. I mean, being straight affords one so many opportunities that gay men and women are not able to take advantage of, social discrimination is not an issue, and one (should he or she be religious) doesn't always have to always wonder if their sexuality is a moral issue. There are also many gay people who are absolutely happy with themselves and wish nothing was different. The important thing to remember is that we're all complex beings with different personalities, growing up under very different circumstances and environments. We should not judge people for how they feel about their sexuality, whether they're proud or not...what we should do is help people find peace in their lives. We really need to get rid of all this extremist thought (from both conservatives AND liberals) that tells people what they should feel about their sexuality....and understand that many gay individuals have to come to their own personal understanding of who they are and what they want out of life.

I don't know a gay person who wishes they were strait it is a sexual prefrance. Some people are attracted to the same sex. It takes some people longer to realize they like it but its never something like ohh I dont want to do it bc society says no..most gay and lesbian people think outside the box

Is that the whole question?? There are plenty of people who are gay who wish they weren't. Who wish they could be straight. That's why a lot of people are still in the closet and in denial or hate themselves. Coming to terms with your sexuality can be very difficult and vicious until you ACCEPT who you are and be proud of it, and love yourself.

They can get massive amounts of electroshock to try to fix it for a while, but it's temporary, so they usually revert back.

Places that say they'll make you straight again and get rid of your evil urges are full of ****. It only works short term, then you go back because it's natural. Without the constant negative reinforcement you cannot do it.

This is because homosexuality is normal, much like one trying to run from his skin colour, one cannot get far.

Did you not think that thousands, perhaps millions of others before "you" and throughout history have also desired the same thing? Just who do you think wouldn't want to have an easier lifestyle and live their life like the majority of others?
However....what "is".....IS!
What if a spotted Leopard ,...did'nt want to have spots?

Try wanking off to different porn. Try straight porn where both parties look quite likeable, and try and appreciate the one you don't already go for.
I doubt you could totally switch your orientation, but could probably become bisexual. Not entirely sure why you'd want to when you don't actually want to though.

I would suggest that person seek therapy to find acceptance of who he/she is. It would be the same if someone who is of one race wanted to be of another race. The best course of action would be to try and figure out what the source of self-hatred is, then find ways to combat it.
