Let me get this right-you're doing 60 or 70 in traffic on a motorway and you turn round to look behind you? CXan't think of anything more likely to cause an accident. Look in your mirrors-you should always know what is behind you anyway, keep checking them, then when it's clear you can overtake. Simple.

Oh yes, every time. It shouldn't be necessary, in theory, especially with the modern dual-focus mirrors, but a quick glance over the shoulder can only do good, not harm, it only takes a split second. It's probably a hangover from motorcycling days, where such a look is not known as the "lifesaver" for nothing.

Lorry's interior the united kingdom are resticted to 56mph. This replaced right into a central authority decision to strengthen street protection (although I doubt how lots difference it makes while the 40 4 tonnes traveling in the back of you hits homestead. . . fifty six or 80 mph it truly is nonetheless gonna flatten a motor vehicle). yet alterations in weight and/or accelaration mean lorry's can slowly benefit on one yet another, until eventually one needs to bypass. yet a lorry driving force is likewise strictly regulated on the type of hours he or she willpersistent in an afternoon/week (in assessment to motor vehicle drivers). So the speedier a driving force can arrive at a holiday spot, sell off and return to his place of artwork, the quicker he can return homestead to his kinfolk. specific there are some thoughtless HGV drivers available, yet the two some motor vehicle drivers bypass away it until eventually the final minute to drag in front of a truck, so that they are able to make their go out from a twin carriageway. And 40 4 tonnes will in no way stop on the instant. and how many automobiles you do bypass with out slowing you down? greater effective than those you notice retaining you up. And do you commonly decelerate for the mandatory velocity cut back? And if no longer, why is YOUR journey so important? Truck drivers are monitored by ability of a tachograph which records the circumstances, velocity and distance the motor vehicle has coated. the great Heck rail crash replaced into brought about by ability of a motor vehicle driving force who fell asleep on the wheel after being on the internet all evening. the quicker ALL drivers learn that much less velocity/impatiance is a sturdy subject, the quicker i'm going to stop looking out who replaced into responsible and my colleagues will stop knocking on doorways to break the undesirable information.

Lean forward and get right angle in rear view mirror - will do same. Some cars especially 4 wheel drives have worse blind spot trying to look behind.

Yes but look in the mirror as well! Cos there can be a blind spot and you need to check every way you can before changing lanes.

YES i do, i just feel i need to as it doesn't feel safe to just check the wing mirror.
add: if you check your mirrors you are still taking you eye of the road people! Hello, check the blind spot look quickly over you shoulder after having a good look in front of you.

your asking if you check your blind spot. yes it is a very good thing to do, you never know when some idiot is going to sit there in your blind spot and hide. so if you look and make sure its clear, you wont have the chance to be responsible for an accident. this technique is very good with watching out for motorcycles since streetbikes are very hard to notice right next to you. and think if you hit them, they are dead. thats not something you want.

Mirror, signal, check mirror again, check side mirror, if clear move over.
However, a quick check over your shoulder does not hurt. I also have a blind spot mirror on the cars side mirror.

What, and take my eyes off the road whilst I'm travelling at speed. You must be joking! Rear view mirror and then right wing mirror on the UK motorways. Signal well before pull out.
To pull in, rear view mirror and then left wing mirror. Signal well before pull in.
