If that is really what you want to do, then go for it. It is a lot of school, but it will be worth it in the end. Good Luck!

if you are really passionate about it and it is something you are seriously into, then go for it. after all, it will be worth it in the end. spending a few more years in school isn't that bad: once you are a senior in high school, you will already have had over ten years in school. whats a few more? and also you will be in school for what you truely enjoy, unlike high school where you have to take basically an equal amount of all subjects. so in essence, it all depends on how driven you are to become a pediatrician. i will be going through the same thing next year... applying, colleges, careers... so i know how stressful and hard this is. you can talk to your guidance councilor... that always helps. or maybe you can do an internship or job interview with a pediatrician to see if it is the right job for you. after all, you dont want to go into college and realize that you actually arent all that interested in becoming a pediatrician.
hope this helps and good luck!!! :)

As a current medical student, let me tell you that it is a lot of hard work and long hours, but there is no place else I could be in my life right now. If you have the passion and dedication to the profession and your future patients, it will be well worth the time. You'll be surrounded by some of the most amazing people and opportunities. It's also a balancing act between family, friends, work, and play, but what profession isn't? It's a decision that only you can make. Best of luck!

It's not the rest of your lilfe, it's a course of study. And you will be doing what you say you do want to do for the rest of your life - you'll be studying and working with kids.
Look - as a doctor you will be reading and studying and keeping up on new techniques and medicines for the rest of your life, and if that doesn't appeal to you, then don't start. Part of your job will be to keep on studying.
The rest is working with kids and their families and other doctors and others working in the field of health care. If that excites you, that's what you will be doing from very early on in your training.
You'll notice I didn't answer your question. Only you can do that. But you are making a choice that IS the rest of your life.
