there are different situations.
Generally, the defending team may not dislodge the goal.
This can be penalized 2 minutes for delay of game.
The player with the puck- or another member of that team could be "checked" into the goal dislodging it --the risk there is a possible 2 minute obstruction penalty - but if it's a clean hit - you saved a goal.
Good question!
Hockey is the fastest-coolest game on earth!!!

Sure. They do it all the time. If crosschecked or hit and falling one of 2 mysterious things happen way too often - defenders tend to"accidentally" fall against the net enough to move it, - offense tend to "accidentally" fall into the goalie. But if you accidentally fall into the net by tripping over your own feet or for no apparent reason it is a delay of game penalty - or penalty shot if a breakaway situation. The ref does have some leeway to call it a goal if it goes in, but they tend to rule more towards stopping the play as soon as the net is dislodged. And to be a goal, the puck has to be shot before the posts come off. Empty nets are different. They are likely to call it a goal.

Rule 51 C if you want to read it.

jaun is right on!

I've played for 13 years and if your going to take a penalty over a goal, your better off taking them out before they get to the hash marks on the cirlce. there are times when a penalty just happends over a goal, but moving the net still can get a gaol for them! Im not sure if your a player or not but even a fan should get what im trying to say, sorry i've had a few pucks to the head so it might seem like mumbo jumbo!

You cannot intentionally knock off the net. If the person is on a breakaway they will give you the other team a penalty shot. Also, you really don't know in hockey when the other team is going to score. You will get delay of game penalties for knocking off the net if it is intentional also. So therefore, you really are not allowed to do it. As for most the answers above me tell them to read what sport it is before they answer. Come on people it is in Hockey.

A goalie scoring a objective in an NHL recreation is an fairly uncommon feat, having exceeded off merely 11 circumstances in the heritage of the nationwide Hockey League. Seven of those 11 objectives resulted from the goalie capturing into an empty internet. the final 4 objectives were no longer genuinely shot into the internet by technique of the goalie; extremely the goalie became presented the objective because he became the finest participant on his crew to the contact the %. earlier the competition scored on themselves. Ron Hextall and Martin Brodeur are the merely NHL goalies to be credited with 2 occupation objectives (each and each and every scoring once in the familiar season and once in the playoffs), nonetheless merely Hextall has scored 2 objectives by technique of capturing the %. into an empty internet. Damian Rhodes and José Théodore are the merely goalies in NHL heritage to score a objective in a shutout recreation.

If the defending team does and the ref catches them, the other team would be rewarded a penalty shot for any shooter. Ryan Smyth put the net back on for his team at the opposing end a couple weeks ago, and bang, ten seconds later, Islanders goal. he wasnt caught moving it though.

if ur talkin bout basketball then if the opposing team do touch the net n the ref sees it would be a goal tent field meaning the other team gets 2 points but sometimes the refs don't catch it

The rule is simple, if the net comes off the moorings (what its held to the ice with) before the puck crosses the goal line, it is NO GOAL. In the upper echelon hockey leagues (NHL, OHL etc....), they have instant replay, you can't cheat the camera!!

Yes you could .... but then you get a 2 minute penalty for interrupting the game and then you get a game misconduct for an unsportmanlike conduct and the goal is also awarded ....... you migth also get a suspension by the league for doing so.

no because the refs would call it before they score the goal. Also to move the net the defense would have to slam into it
