Someone stole all the cooper tubing from our industrial plant, if the cooper is replaced they will be back. Is there any way to coat the cooper piping to make it unusable (or unsaleable) to thieves? If it is painted is the cooper of less value?

I am a plumber, and we just notify all of our surroing recyling plants to call us if there is any type of copper recycling going on, and to call the police if there is.

Run some current through it. The copper is worth less ifit is not bright and shiny. No one will touch it if it will shock them! More realistically though, if you can get the shrink wrap tubing in the size you need, the one with the extra goowey stuff lining it, and wrap the copper with some fibrous string then melt the shrink wrap onto that, then shrink wrap it with the thinner type w/out the goo, that would make it a b*tch to strip and lower the price they would get as well. But I'm tired just typing all that, I could only imagine actually doing it. Maybe get a couple of German Sheppards and a fence (or better yet an invisible electric fence-the kind for dogs) and leave the copper all bright and shiny... I once saw 2 sheppards tear a man in half...In Real Life! It was something I'll never forget, unlike that robber's name. RESPECT is worth learning!
