Communications is kind of a joke of a major. Marketing isn't tons better, but it's better.

But if you want good long-term options and pathways for success, plan to go to graduate school. If you can get into grad school, your undergraduate major isn't ultimately very important.

It doesn't matter what's better to us. What matters more should be your personal interest in those two fields regardless of money. If you get into marketing and hate it but you're making 50k or working in communications for say 35k and are happy, then you're better off.

Considering a job for its alleged worth isn't the right way to look at it. If it were me though, I'd take marketing since communications is far too broad to be completely marketable as a degree. With communications, you're best off having a concentration such as broadcast, radio, or journalism.

Do your research, see what interests you most, check out the job market (present and future outlook) for those fields, and decide on what seems best for you.
