NYU is a highly respected private university in New York City. It is best known for its business majors, but you can definitely prepare fro med school there and get into a good medical school if you do well in your classes. You can expect the competition in classes there to be quite tough.

The main thing about NYU is its location. Unlike most colleges, it does not have a pretty campus with lawns and athletic fields, etc. It is absolutely right in the middle of the city. You walk out your dorm's front door and you are on a city street in Manhattan. I have been told by NYU students that it can be very isolating, and that NYU is not a good place to go to school if you are a bit of a loner and do not make friends easily. One kid said, if you get depressed and go hide in your room, you could stay there until the end of the school year and no one would notice you were missing.

NYU is a good school, but it is not for everyone.

NYU is a very respected school. It'll be just fine for Pre-Med.

Main con about it is the cost. It's private so tuition is high. It's in Manhattan, so cost of living is going to be very high as well. Especially if you live near campus, that area is VERY expensive.

The only thing I know is that NYU can be really hard to get in to. My cousin had a 4.4 GPA in high school and didn't get in.

Place the name of each school individually into your favorite search engine and add the phrase rankings and reviews. Then do a compare and contrast. If there is time the best approach is to visit each school and to speak to faculty, students and admissions
