i'd rather lose by 25 points than by 1 point....losing a close game hurts more cuz that's when you realize after the game that you coud've done something or if you could have done just a little better then you could have won the game....to lose by a buzzer beater is a heartbreaker especially when you know it's just a crazy but lucky shot that went it(much like rasheed's).....or when you have a teammate who just loses the game by mistake for you when you almost had it(like ruffin of the wizards) those things kill you emotionally.....

i was once in a basketball league and we lost by 2 points even though we led for many times in the game....we were the underdogs and judging by how we played, we deserved the win....but we lost by two points and boy, even though i'm so tired by playing so much minutes in the game, i couldn't sleep that night.....

how it feels good to win a 1-point game is as much as how bad it feels to lose it....

Personally, I think losing by one point hurts more because you lose the game knowing you were ALMOST there, but if you lose by 25 points you know you didn't have a chance of winning.

obviously losing by 1 point hurts a lot more

you lose by 25 you know you faced a better team and have to give it up to them. You lose by one point and you have to replay the game over and over again possession by possession of what went wrong and what you could have done differently here and there and it will just beat you up

especially if you missed a potential game winner or made a critical error

in a 1 point game one play could have altered the outcome. Ina 25 point game you were just outmatched and didn't deserve to win

Losing by one point because you think you could have done better than the opponent and it was really close. Losing by 25 points is not bad because if they are ahead of you, you know there is no chance to beat them so you are not that frustrated compared to losing by 1 point.

Definitely losing by 25. Losing by 25 just flat out deflates you and makes you wonder why you play for that team. Losing by 1 just gets you fired up.

I rather lose by 25 because there would be so many different ways that you could win if you did it.

missed lay-up; missed dunk ; make a foul that gives the other team a couple of foul shots they would not have if you did not commit a stupid foul ; etc plus it is so heartbreaking and many ifs entered your mind. When you lose by 25 you can credit it to a bad night or the other team just outclassed you.

Losing by one hurts more. You go over the game time and again in your mind wondering what one play you could have made to change the score; did you dribble when you should have passed, passed when you should have shot, shot when you should have passed, etc. When you lose by 25 you think, "Well, we'll get 'em next time."

1 pt because it could have gone either way. When you lose by 25 you know you never had a chance.

well since i play basketball and have for a long time, losing by one point hurts more because it's a close game and and it makes you frustrated that you lost by just one point, when you lose by 25, it lets you know that you werent even close.

It really comes down to who you lose to. If you lose to a contender by 25 it does not hurt, by one hurts. If you lose to a losing team by 25 it hurt, by one it does not hurt.
