"Jackson saw Native americans as a nuisance, a pest. They were in his path, and his path was going to be cleared" ? Can I say "Perhaps part of the reason the people were so negative lie in the realization that their leader was in prolonged disagreement with the Native American way of life"
Can I input my own opinion if I don't say "I think that" or "my opinion is?"

If your paper is analytical, then you must 'analyze' your research.

"To analyze means to break a topic or concept down into its parts in order to inspect and understand it, and to restructure those parts in a way that makes sense to you. In an analytical research paper, you do research to become an expert on a topic so that you can restructure and present the parts of the topic from your own perspective." (see link below for source)

The key here is to read as much as you can about Jackson and his problems with Native Americans. Read about the what was going on in the country at that time regarding the development of the territories of the US.

Think about it this way. It is no different than analyzing a video game or movie or even a song. You would have to know everything about the game or the song in order to form any kind of judgment.

If you were analyzing a movie, you would take into account the filming, the actors and the directing.

You should be able to form some opinion about the events and feelings of Jackson's. Maybe you feel that the Native Americans were treated unfairly because of their land being pulled out from under them. Maybe you sympathize with Jackson's point of view, knowing that it was the best thing for civilization to progress in the west.

Getting information is the key as well as knowing your stuff.

Don't be overwhelmed, just keep it simple enough yet show that you researced your subject well.

And if you have Microsoft Word or any other word processing program, please use it.

An objective of organizing a research paper is to allow people to read your work selectively. When I research a topic, I may be interested in just the methods, a specific result, the interpretation, or perhaps I just want to see a summary of the paper to determine if it is relevant to my study. To this end, many journals require the following sections, submitted in the order listed, each section to start on a new page. There are variations of course. Some journals call for a combined results and discussion, for example, or include materials and methods after the body of the paper. The well known journal Science does away with separate sections altogether, except for the abstract.

Your papers are to adhere to the form and style required for the Journal of Biological Chemistry, requirements that are shared by many journals in the life sciences.

Oh I hate a research paper. I also procrastinate. I've had about 3 months to write a 7 page paper on vietnam, haven't even started. Its due when we get back from spring break. I'll probably start on it tomorrow. The longest I've had to write in one night would only be two pages.

An analytical research paper means you research and then you analyze the topic. You need to break down the topics into parts in order to analyze them. You can break down just one or two concepts depending on the size the paper is required to be.

You then become the expert on your topic. You state the fact and then reconstruct and present the topics in your own point of view. And remember as long as it is your point of view it is not an incorrect point of view. You are presenting the facts the way you see them. You just need to make your reader see and understand your point of view. They do not have to agree with the way you see things. As you said refrain from using the phrases, 'in my opinion', or 'I think'.

Good Luck. Research papers can be fun as well a educational. Have fun with your paper.

Have you read any biographies of Jackson? Whatever his opinion of Native Americans was, historical fact is what counts in a research paper unless you're quoting a respected historian who has extensively studied his life. Don't make excuses for the man. He believed white people to be superior and he was without excuse in his treatment of Native Americans. For that reason alone, in this period of history, he should be severely criticized rather than defended.

Short answer: Yes.

Your style implies it is an opinion. You don't actually have to say it 'out loud'.

But use a zpellink zjecker. It will improve your grade.

First of all let me just say that you write very well for an 8th grader.

To answer your question, you can definitely add your own opinions, as you are therefore "analyzing" what happened. You were right to say "without 'I think that' or 'my opinion is.'" Those are no-no's.
