The more you try and set yourself apart the more you will fall into another category of people who are also trying to break from mainstream.
Therefore, if you are genuinely yourself (we all have quirks, and some oddness, let it out!) you are then becoming an individual. The world is so inmense that the possibility of someone being similar to you is very possible.
However, if you are truly yourself, every inch, you really set yourself apart. Try perhaps, not dyeing your hair, dressing with clothes that make you feel very alive, comfortable, and happy. Also, I think is great that you are being selective about what and how you say things because people are very careless, now a days. You see that's unique!
Remeber, do things that make YOU feel good, that YOU enjoy. Not many people out there do it.
Success!

being individual doenst mean changing your clothes or hair. honestly now-a-days thats what more and more people are doing. the whole "unique" thing is what is in. I remember a time (not so long ago...as if im old) when being goth or dying your hair odd colors was considered weird....now, not so much. dont try so hard....if you try to hard you are never going to discover who you really are. play with different looks and read about different things and research other cultures, find magazines from other places...even draw inspiration from times gone by.... eventually with time and experience you will find "you". Whether you are a complete individual in every way or if you a a slight likeness of someone else, you are who you are.

we are all unique but some people try to hide their uniqueness by conforming. Love the idea of expressing yourself better - keep on with this.

Maybe learn to be happy with yourself as a person, and the uniqueness will come naturally. Forcing yourself not to be the same as everyone else means that you are constantly criticising yourself and putting yourself up against others.

stop trying to hide beind the costume of who you THINK you should be and just "be"....trying too hard is conformist in it's own way . be who and how you are naturally.....who wants to a live a life that's not really thiers for the sake of being "different". You are different . Youre a unique person ...be you. Plain and simple.
The harder you try to be something you're not , the more obvious it is that it's not you at all.
Good luck :-)

To be honest asking this question, you wont be unique, you will be made up of everyone elses opinions! but... things you can do is buy clothes that everyone else has... and then change them yourself... dye your t-shirts... cut your skirts... rip your jeans... print your on hoodies... its fun because then its your clothes... not the clothes that you have and so does everyone else! As for your hair just wear it different everyday!

just do the things that are right for u, if that means going against the trends or "stereotypical" behaviors, then so be it!!! as long as u are not hurting yourself or others, then others cannot say anything...of course there will always be someone, somewhere who`s going to try to put u down, or make fun of u, or keep u from doing something because it`s out of the ordinary, but so what??? just be yourself!!! doesn`t matter what others think or say!!!

being unique doesnt mean that you have to be the most different person out there. just be yourself and that will make you unique. if you try to hard, even if you are trying really hard to be different, than you are no different than those who try too hard to conform. it sounds like you are simply putting too much pressure on yourself to be different. you're probably better off figuring out more who you are and then just being that.

why try so hard to be "different?" just be yourself. it's annoying when people purposely try to go against the grain and be more "unique" when you can tell that's not who the person really is.
