Refraction of light by the molecules in the air.

It's all to do with the way that the different color components of sunlight are scattered by our atmosphere, something known as Rayleigh Scattering.

Sunlight consists of all colors of the spectrum and each color has a different wavelength, some of these light waves can pass through our atmosphere but others, the ones with longer wave lengths, collide with molecules in the atmosphere and are scattered. The light that does get through is mainly from the blue end of the spectrum so the sky appears blue.

When the sun is low on the horizon and the sunlight has to pass through more atmosphere before it reaches us there is greater scattering and we see light from the red end of the spectrum.

It's explained in more detail and with diagrams here... http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/atmos/blusky.html

Because the sky is filled with water, water is made from hydrogen and oxygen, one of those two (I forget which) has a 0.001% blue chemical stain, and the other has a neutral chemical stain. THUS, with so much water in the atmosphere, the sky looks blue from all the water.

Because Mars took red and Venus got green. Or refraction of water vapor in the Earth's atmosphere (kind of like a prism) and the filtering of all others colors but blue... I can't remember which.

I'm no scientist but the sky's blue because our atmosphere is blue.
