I'm part Mexican so I have dark brown hair and tan skin all year long. Sometimes when I'm in a group or something talking to my friends and I hear people whispering "Their's that Mexican girl," I find this kinda painful and rude. I'm just the same as other 11 year old girls. I like to sing, dance, and cheer. Even the teachers are like this! One of my teacher only picks the white kids (no offense) and never the other races. Why are people like this??? I try not to let it get to me but it gets painful and hard at some points. My friends say i'm just as normal as the other kids. They even thinks it's kinda cool to have a Mexican friend so I tell them about Mexico and the things I know about it. Why are people like this? We are all the same no matter what we look like on the outside.

ok...As a full blooded mexican girl. im telling you not to worry about it girl. People just do those type of things because you are different. you are mix.......but i mean you should never let that pull you down. you turn all that into something positive and its going to help you get on top of your game!! yea its hard and its going to hurt..i know becuase i went to something similar myself when i was younger and it really brought down my self-esteem, i always thought there was something wrong with. but then i realized you shouldnt let what people think get to you gurl just be proud of where you came from and REPRESENT for yours and what you think is right.you are very young and you shouldnt let any of this get to you its really just jealousy because they canot be like you and be as proud as you are. girl just live for yourself and people that matter to you....for get everybody else and what they think or say.

Hey girl! You are learning about racism. It is sad for people to be this way. You are normal! Be proud of who you are and what you are. You sound more mature than a lot of adults.
When you grow up and have children, just teach them not to be racist so, maybe the next generation will be better. Also, don't feel alone. A lot of people feel discriminated against.
Whites, Blacks, Mexicans, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, the list goes on. Most of the time when you hear someone else talking about your race remember, that person is most likely a very shallow person and probably is just looking for attention.
Stay strong and don't let others offend you.

Well, our society is very judgemental unfortunately, I'm sorry to say. I would ignore the ones who act like that; it's showing their ignorance, and as far as teachers, I'd bring that up to your parents. You deserve the same attention from your teacher as the others. I know in grade school, things are tough to start with and remember, that kids are going to be mean, I remember being teased mercilessly in grade school for beginning puberty! I was the ugly duckiling and turned into the swan. I run into people sometimes and they feel so bad for the way they acted, and compliment me now. I still laugh about it and still think of them as losers, you know? Just do the best you can, and try to be nice to everyone else, in the end, things always work out. Good luck!!

You're just at the early stages of beginning to find out how incredibly *stupid* people can be. Don't let it bother you one bit, ok? Ok! Move forward with your life and your goals, and don't take any of this junk too seriously (unless, of course, you or a friend are being physically threatened). Stupid is, is stupid does.

My daughter is 1/2 Irish and 1/2 Mexican - sometimes the kids call her "fakexican" because she is so fair and her last name is Mexican. We both actually got a good laugh out of that - sometimes it's just better to laugh. Plus she is beautiful (and I'm not saying that just because I'm her mom). So... hang in there. I bet you're beautiful too!

Racism, hm I guess that's kinda hard to be stopped amongst the society.

Well, what you can do is just ignore them and deafen your ears. People are well, people. Screw them for being racist, but sad to say, there's not much we can do about that.

As for me, yeah it would be uber cool to have a Mexican friend like you! :) So do appreciate your friends for accepting you for who you are, and not what you are.

It sure does get painful and hard at some points but I guess you have to learn how to tolerate with all these bullshit. Gotta be patient :) Reality is indeed, very harsh.

Good luck and all the best to you.

I am half Nicaraguan so i know how it goes.First of all you should be proud to be Mexican it is who you are. Don't let nobody tell you you are any different just because of that. They are probably just jealous because they have pale skin, you should flaunt your tan. And as for the teacher she is just a raciest idiot, don't pay attention to people like that. Good Luck

Little kids don't understand... and a lot of people are just... ignorant. I'm sorry that's how it is but you gotta rise above it. Make them say "wow... there's that beautiful Mexican gal... I wish I had that hair and skin tone!" I know I am envious of a lot of different races because they all have such amazingly distinguished features such as eyes, hair and skin. Good luck, it takes time to love yourself enough to rise above the others

I'm sorry you are getting this. There are bias' everywhere, but as you get older you will have a great network of friends that don't care about anything, but what's inside. It's hard to imagine life in 10+ yrs, but it gets easier. I would like to say living in NYC is easy b/c we have more cultures, but it becomes about $$ not race.

Sweetie, I know it is hard but it is part of growing up!!! Try not to let it get to you!! There are ignorant people in the world that are still racist. Keep a postitive attitude and do what you do. Don't let anybody tell you, you cannot do something because of who you are. Remain true to yourself, be proud of who you are!!!!!

People can get under your skin. Since you don't do anything about what they say they do it again. Show some backbone and let them have it. People are just like the because they are raised like that so talk to your parents or school counselor.
