The same guy who brought us 'The World According to Garp' and 'The Hotel New Hampshire' -- John Irving.

Irving once said "I think of writing fiction as doing justice to the people in the story and to their story -- it's not MY story."

He and Cheever came from the University of Iowa Writing School -- they helped put the place on the literary map.
