UC BERKELEY! GO BEARS!!!

1.Which one? See above

2.)Was it fun? YES

3.)Was it overated/ underated?
Cal is everything they say it is and more!

4.)Did the teachers make learning fun or easy?
Depends on the class. I had some brilliant professors (Prof. Bertozzi in o-chem, Prof. Bruns in mycology, Prof. Firestone in endocrinology, Prof. Kepner in my Southeast Asian studies classes, etc...). I had lousy profs for physics and calc, though, and Prof. Steinhardt was a total jerk.

5.)Were there a lot of parties? YES, depending on which scene you'd rather be in. But I'm a pre-med emo kid, so frat parties don't appeal to me.

6.)Were there a lot of fun things to do?
YES. It's 20 minutes to San Francisco. I like to go to concerts, walk around town, shop, see interesting films at one of the many cinemas on Shattuck, look at art at BAM, go to rallies just to see what they're rioting about, play frisbee on the lawn, etc.

7.)Was it a beautiful campus?
Some parts are gorgeous. Some parts are ugly (Wurster Hall!)

8.) Did you ever feel left out?
Not for one minute! I never fit in during high school, but at Cal, I was surrounded by quirky literati like me. There is a club for every interest, and if yours isn't there, you can start one.

1. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
2.) Definitely
3.) It was exactly what people said about it.
4.)The school has a "learn by doing" philosophy. So the teachers are very hands-on. Most classes have you practicing the class subject in real life or simulations.
5.) Many house parties! Not a huge fraternity scene.
6.) Beach, Wineries, Hiking, Downtown bars, tons of campus clubs, etc.
7.)Yes.
8.) Not really. There are So many clubs and opportunities to get involved. At Cal Poly you must start with a major. Your very first quarter of college includes students who have the same interests as you.
