How about a wrap or shrug over a tank top, with a knee-length skirt, or with pants?

I know what you mean. It also depends on where you are going. If it is to a club or out wit girlfriends wear pants and a cute top (either halter, cami) or one of those shirts that is out in the back and put a colorful bright tank up under it. If you are going to meet a guy or out to dinner with co workers wear jeans. a small heel or wedge, and a tunic blouse or a button up collar blouse with the belt on the outside!!!!

Tees with jeans. Plaid Bermudas with a henley layered with a cami. A tank with a hoodie and roll-up sweats. Layering is the key to not looking skimpy and trendy.

depends on where you are going.
just really make sure you dress moderatly and think of where you are and who you will be around. you shouldnt wear something like a blue jean denim skirt and cami if you were say going to a funeral.. or around old people, etc...
just think of who'll be there, temperature/environment, style, comfort, etc..

Right now plaid bermuda shorts are really IN! They have them in every store! They look really cute with polos for a really preppy look.
