Is he just that ridiculously popular in Germany or is he also known abroad?

The bear's name is not generally known abroad, BUT the case definitely is. Those so-called "animal rights" nutcases are saying that since the baby bear's mother has rejected the bear, the zoo should kill it because thats what mother nature would do. I would think they would rather show some sympathy toward the bear and think its nice that the zoo people want to raise it. Since it IS in a zoo, and the zoo is it's environment, it is not in the wild, so why not have compassion on it?

I bet these sickos will even try to break into the zoo at night to try to assasinate the bear.

Some "animal rights" people these are!

He is quite well known in the US as well. More so over the controversy about interfering with nature by taking in the bear.

i live in the u.s. and we have heard of him. i think it was sad that the animal activist thought that he should have died and the zoo should not have kept him alive. how do they feel about human babies that have been abandoned let them die also.

We have heard of him here in the U.S., in fact I have seen video of him. The "animal rights" people want to kill him. Just what kind of "animal rights" is that???? They disgust me; he is sooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!! :D
